Lelia DeAndrade, Associate Director. Lelia joined the CPHV staff in 2002. As Associate Director, she oversees the general operation of the Center, including trainings, projects and staff. Dr. DeAndrade has written numerous articles, reports and other publications focusing on hate crimes and their prevention. She has conducted scores of workshops for students, teachers, school staff and administrators, and community members throughout the Northeast and across the country. Recently, Lelia conducted research and wrote reports for a number of schools in Maine and produced a guide for developing school-wide anti-harassment policies.
Previously, Lelia worked as a professor at a college in Maine. She has extensive training experience, with expertise in addressing issues surrounding immigration. She holds a BA from Rhode Island College and earned both her MA and PhD at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. She was awarded a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the DuBois Institute at Harvard University (1997, 2000) and was recently selected to participate in the Institute for Civic Leadership’s Collaborative Leadership Intensive.
